Loss Aversion
Losing $1,000 hurts twice as much as gaining it — causing traders to hold losers and cut winners early.
Recency Bias

FOMO

Why is my exchange PnL different from my calculation?
Exchanges show Unrealized PnL based on Mark Price (an average across exchanges), not Last Price, and dashboard figures often exclude fees and funding until close. This crypto profit calculator gives a clean theoretical model that's often more accurate than 'estimated' dashboard numbers.
How do I calculate profit for multiple entries (DCA)?
Buy $1000 of ETH at $3000 and another $1000 at $2800 and your average entry is $2900. For DCA, use your weighted-average entry price and the total quantity of coins across all entries.
What is ROE (Return on Equity) in crypto?
ROE is profit relative to the margin you used. $100 margin at 10x controlling $1,000 of crypto that makes $50 is 50% ROE. It's how 'gains' are shared on social media, even when the dollar profit is small.
Does leverage increase fees?
Indirectly. Fees are charged on the total position size, not your margin. $100 at 100x pays fees on $10,000 — so opening and closing a high-leverage position rapidly can cost 10–20% of your account in fees alone.
How do I calculate profit for a short position?
In a short you sell first and buy back later, so you profit when the exit price is below entry. The formula flips: Profit = (Entry − Exit) × Quantity. Use the LONG/SHORT toggle in the calculator.
What is liquidation and how do I avoid it?
Liquidation is the exchange forcibly closing your position when losses approach your margin. Always set a stop loss closer to entry than your liquidation price — use our liquidation calculator to find the exact danger zone.
Can I use this for stocks or forex too?
